Webpacker's guide to the galaxy

“In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Then they made webpack.

During this workshop you will learn about webpack and some cool stuff like dynamic and static imports, lazy loading, chunking and magic. Yonatan is going to share with you how to build something awesome called YOPF. There’s going to be Fireworks! Just don’t forget to bring towels.

By the end of this workshop, you will know how to use webpack’s configuration file (and why you wouldn’t need to in most cases). You will also know how to create your own library using webpack – including (buzz words alert!) code splitting and lazy loading. If you are using angular-cli, or scaffolding your react project – or even doing something cool with vue.js – you’ll have a better understanding of what’s going on behind the scenes for you (yes – they are all using webpack for the build and development processes).

And Don’t Panic!

A father, husband, runner and a developer (not necessarily in that order). I’ve been hooked up to a computer since 2nd grade (my first XT Turbo machine). From Logo through Turbo Basic, C and Matlab I’ve landed on PHP as a my web stack. After a few years of building PHP applications, I’ve been swept by the nodejs revolution. While building from scratch enterprise level “big data” applications, I found myself diving deep into performance in the browser and in nodejs. While doing other awesome things (I’m currently a software architect at WalkMe), I keep promoting a performance awareness agenda by giving talks and workshops.
